24 Hours: Camera Sold, Camera Ordered

So in all the talk recently about getting out of photography as an art and getting into it more as a sharing tool, somehting was lost. Namely, action. Well no more.

Yesterday culminated a swift 24-hour turnaround from needing to sell my current equipment to purchasing new equipment. I listed my stuff on
craigslist – you may have heard of it – and had a deal made within about 8 hours. A short 13 hours later, and I had cash in hand from the sale, and was sitting at my computer, shopping amazon.com, and placing an order for my new equipment. Which is now on its way here, two-day express.

Action, folks, that’s what I’m talkin’ about.

No I’m not that impatient

No, I would not actually pay for two-day express shipping; I’m not that desperate for the little guy that I couldn’t just wait the extra 3 days and not pay a dime for shipping.
But I did get it two-day express. They offered me a trial membership into
Amazon Prime, which gives you access to free two-day shipping on a hell of a lot of what amazon sells.

It’s a 30-day free trial. To me, that means in 28 days, I log on and turn it off. No problem. So free two-day shipping on two items is really all it amounts to. Oh yeah, I also picked up a memory card for my new camera as well, forgot to mention that, but that’s where the second item comes into play.

Did you hear? Hell froze over

Yes it’s true, apparently, the Patriots – the team with the perfect season in the making – couldn’t find a way to rub Eli Manning’s face in the dirt.

How the hell do you go and score a lossless season & playoffs, then manage to lose the single biggest game of them all? Like, aren’t you prepared for what’s about to happen? Seriously? C’mon, you got to be joking.

I’m lost when it comes to football anymore. My team has sucked royally for the last 10 years, something that I wasn’t prepared for growing up in their glory days, and now I can’t seem to root for anything worthwhile. I’m not like most Americans who want to “root for the underdog – if you suck why the hell do I want you to win? No, I want to see beautiful football played to perfection, especially on offense, and that’s why I had wanted Indy to win big at the beginning of this decade, and why I wanted to see the Pats pull it off this year if Indy wasn’t going to… As I have been heard saying, it’s not that I like the Patriots necessarily, but how many times do you think we’ll be this close to seeing a team pull off the perfect season, especially in such fashion as they have? The last team to do it was the 1972 Dolphins. It’s been 36 years. It might be 36 more, too. I just wanted to be here for history, I guess.

Netflix: Tomorrow we watch Sunshine

I’m hoping it’s a decent movie, because otherwise it’s sort of a week wasted, huh? I coulda been waiting for other movies. But the horizon’s looking good. The Brave one comes out soon – maybe even today? – and I’m also waiting on Planet Earth, the BD set that is based off the acclaimed HD TV show, showcasing some of the planet’s rarer and more beautiful locales. Should be stunning.

I am seriously considering a new, large (read: LARGE) television set. Think 65+ inches. 1080p of course, LCD preferred (though I hear they’re heavier, but they’re so bright and beautiful!). Why? Because I’m also considering not ever getting cable, and just renting/buying the few programs I feel are worth watching. And I might as well enjoy them in full HD, right? So Netflix, and possibly Apple TV in the future (once they get their formats up-to-date) and a TV to rule them all, and I think I’m set.

And since I won’t be getting expensive camera equipment, I could probably swing it. Yeah, it’ll be amazing. You’re invited on movie nights, how’s that?

Peace.
